CHSC RULES AND
REGULATIONS
2010 SHOW SEASON
CHSC and every person participating at the competition including exhibitors, owners, trainers, lessee, manager, agent, riders, handlers, judge, steward , official, or employee is subject to the rules and regulations of CHSC.
Rule 1: Membership
2010 membership fee is $25.00. This year this will include both rider and horse fee. All members must abide by CHSC rules and USEF rules where CHSC rules do not exist. Members may be revoked without refund for the following: bad sportsmanship, in humane behavior to the horse and destructive behavior at any show facility. Show management and or CHSC board members have the right to disqualify any exhibitor for these reasons.
Membership is from January to December.
Membership includes:
a. The right to have $2.00 per entered class to go towards year end banquet awards.
b. To have all points totaled at the end of each show and calculated for year end awards.
c. Eligibility to hold positions on committee’s and voting membership at year end meeting.
d. Vote for new rule changes.
e. Senior members can serve as a show delegate
Membership includes one rider and one horse membership. Additional horse memberships will be $10.00.
All fees must be paid prior to showing so that your points will be totaled. If not paid your points will not count for that show.
CHSC has the right to cancel or decline any membership if it is in the best interest of the organization.
Any indebtedness at year end by any member shall warrant the holding of any awards.
Rule 2: Show Sanctioning
As of this date the only show sanctioning offered is Brandywine Stables and WNAA.
Rule 3: Pony Measurements
All ponies protested may be measured to insure that they measure 14’2” or below.
All protest will cost $50.00 to be returned if protestor wins protest.
Rule 4: Regulations
No judge shall be used if exhibiting at the show, owns a horse showing, and trains exhibitors participating at the show.
Judges decision is final.
Do not approach a judge during the show. Seek management if you would like to approach a judge.
Rule 5: Additional Rules
a. 3” rule for fence heights is legal and is at show management discretion
b. A rider may enter up to 2 times a division offered one level above their level and return back to their previous level if not prepared for new level.
Rule 6: Entries to Fill
New this year is we must have 3 entries to fill a division in order for your points to count.
New point system:
***No participation points. However, points have been increased this year.
Points are as follows:

First 12 pts.

Second 10 pts.

Third 8 pts.

Fourth 6 pts.

Fifth 4 pts.

Sixth 2 pts.
Classes will not be split until at least 12 riders are entered into each class. Classes must be split if there are at least 16 riders in the class.
Show management has the right to cancel classes on a horse or pony who has been over jumped and shown by the rider and is endangering the well being of the animal.
Rule 7: Show management
a. Supply membership forms, show prize list , judge and officials
b. All exhibitors are showing in the correct classes
c. Provide safe and adequate schooling area
d. Supply points person with official records for totaling
Rule 8: Registering of Horse and Rider
All horse and riders must be registered and dues paid prior to show in order for points to count.
Rule 9: Over Fences and On The Flat
a. Course begins when entering ring
b. Eliminations occur when a horse or rider fall down or a rider has 3 refusals at a obstacle or rider becoming off course
c. To be judged on equitation of the rider at the walk, trot canter both ways of ring.
d. Outside assistance may be penalized at discretion of judge.
e. May be asked for numerous tests such as no stirrups, halt and back, ride a figure eight at the trot or canter jump an obstacle if medal class, answer questions, dismount and remount, demonstrate turn on forehand, flying or simple lead changes , counter canters or do a demonstration ride discussing to the judge beforehand what they will do. Obviously all of these are at the discretion of the judge maintaining suitability for the age of the exhibitors in class.
See list of class description enclosed with rules. Explanation of new classes offered for CERA, Carolina Equine Rescue & Assistance group. CERA Medal Class 2’ to 2’3” and a CERA Medal Class for 2’6” to 2’9”. Rules:
a. All riders may do their respected schooling round before the Medal class. A specific course will be ridden and judged on suitability of Horse/Pony and rider and Equitation.
b. At each show the class will be placed 1st thru 6th place.
c. At the year end show the top 10 high individuals will be eligible to compete for final honors.
d. The top rider in each Medal class will receive a neck ribbon, trophy and flowers.
e. The Medal class points at each show will count toward your equitation points.
f. All proceeds to benefit CERA
Rule 10: Additional rules
a. Hunter classes are judged on the horse and Equitation classes are judged on the rider. Ex. Walk Trot, Walk Trot Canter, Beginner Rider, Showmanship, Equitation specific go under Equitation points including the Medal Class. Hunter classes are judged on the horse for Ex. Pleasure Horse or Pony, Short Stirrup Hunter, Pre-Short, Long, Limit, Pre-Children, Children’s are all on the Horse. Jumper points will be given to the horse for recognition. Everyone gets recognized not just the rider.
b. Everyone must wear approved head gear. (ASTM approved)
c. Everyone must be neat in appearance but not necessarily in full show attire.
d. Tack must be legal according to USEF rules and in safe condition.
e. Judges decision is final.
Show fees and additional rules for each show in 2010:
a. Classes are $13.00 plus a $6.00 office fee per show number
b. 1st thru 6th place Ribbons Awarded plus Champion & Reserve Ribbons
c. A copy of each horses 1 year current Coggins will be required and we will keep on file.

f. All non-members are welcome to ride at each show. Points will not be calculated.

Rider/Parent must sign a release form at the beginning of each show
stating that CHSC,
